ASO Executive Director Announces Retirement

The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra (ASO) has important news to share with you. After over 35 years with the ASO, our Executive Director, Sherri Burkhart Reddick, has announced plans to retire from her post after our 2023-24 season. We can't begin to express the enormity of our gratitude for her decades of leadership and steady guidance. Sherri's hard work and commitment have helped us survive the past three tumultuous years, and she has been instrumental in the ASO thriving through the ups and downs our orchestra and community have experienced during her long tenure.

"Next season will be my 36th with the ASO," says Sherri. "I am proud of the artistic growth we have achieved and the new pathways we have developed for our friends and neighbors in the community to experience their orchestra. We are now back in concert halls, have a dynamic new Music Director, and have the opportunity for a new musical journey. It is the right time for new leadership to provide the energy and ideas to pursue that journey."

As we move forward, Sherri and the ASO Board of Directors are fully committed to a succession plan that provides the ASO and our next Executive Director a positive, smooth transition and every opportunity for success.
